Most of the interventions I use come from ACT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.  ACT is considered the third wave of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), blending cognitive behavioral ideas with a mindfulness component.  As an invested partner, a compassionate listener, and an expert guide, I seek to understand your current situation. We focus on your own wisdom and values.  Using meaningful feedback, relevant research information, and maybe even some well-timed humor, we collaborate to create a “doable” treatment plan.  My questions and observations help increase your ability to notice subtle, perhaps unknown, aspects of your reactions. You cultivate the ability to think about your thoughts and assess if they are useful and/or accurate. Together, we observe how your patterns of behavior have functioned in your life. As you develop awareness skills, you pave the way to let go of unhelpful thoughts and develop new, more effective behaviors.  You become more powerful in creating the life you would like to have.  I look forward to hearing from you.
